Fajr 5 Missiles with 110km Range Deployed in Iran’s Army Drill
WANA (Jan 21) – The Deputy Operations Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Forces announced the unveiling of the Fajr 5 missiles, which have a range of over 110 kilometers, during a security, offensive, and mobile exercise. He also stated that various drones, the precise-point-strike missiles Almas and the precision-guided bombs Qaem, were also tested and evaluated for their capability to destroy fortifications during this exercise.
Brigadier General Karim Cheshk, the Deputy Operations Commander of the Army Ground Forces, stated that the two-day exercise took place in the general area of northeastern Iran, with the participation of various units.
He explained that the exercise aimed to assess and enhance the operational readiness of the armed forces. “The exercise involved rapid-reaction special forces of the 65th NOHED Brigade, artillery, armored vehicles, air cavalry, drones, electronic warfare, missile groups, and other supporting units, and it successfully achieved its predetermined objectives,” he said.
He further highlighted the unique characteristics of this exercise, noting, “This exercise was the first fully mobile drill conducted at the Army Ground Forces level.
All scenarios were designed and implemented in an offensive, serial manner to simulate real battlefield conditions, and they were completed in the shortest possible time.” He also added that the primary goal of this drill was to improve reaction speed and assess the units’ performance under real-world combat conditions within minimal time.
Brigadier General Cheshk continued, saying, “In this exercise, the latest and most advanced equipment, weaponry, and munitions developed and mass-produced by the experts and researchers of the Army Ground Forces and domestic industries were used. These systems were field-tested to evaluate their efficiency and effectiveness in real operational conditions.”
He pointed out the use of the “Almas” point-strike missiles, “Qaem” precision-guided bombs, and various drones, which were employed in the exercise to destroy enemy fortifications and achieve the exercise’s objectives.
He also referred to the enhancement of the defense and combat capabilities of the Army Ground Forces and stated, “In addition to evaluating equipment, this exercise provided an opportunity to assess the readiness of units in confronting various threats and also to review the country’s defense capabilities in real battlefield conditions.”
He continued by saying that all stages, including planning, designing, implementation, and evaluation, were carried out meticulously and coherently in the shortest time possible.
In conclusion, Brigadier General Cheshk emphasized that the exercise successfully achieved all of its predetermined objectives and significantly enhanced the defense and operational readiness of the Army Ground Forces.
He also expressed gratitude for the close cooperation and synergy among the various units involved in the exercise, adding that such drills and evaluations are consistently included in the Army Ground Forces’ defense plans to maintain readiness to confront any potential threats.
